Castonguay, Gérard

Gérard Castonguay was born in Montreal. He studied at the furniture-making school of Montréal and at the Canadian Academy of arts. He worked as a graphic designer while he was painting.

Gérard Castonguay creates a personal world stemming from his imagination. In a theatrical manner, he prompts characters and landscapes to interact in a context where interpretation, freedom, and fantasy come accross each other and evolve through association.

His achievement is impressive, not to mention an international career, with important milestones in the United States and France. In 2011, the Centre Culturel Yvonne Bombardier presented a retrospective exhibition of his works.
