Jean Chaîney was born in Montreal. He discovered hyperrealism at 18, painting celebrities’ portraits.

In CEGEP, he starts painting buildings. During 15 years, his drawings are made in black and white but gradually, he uses coloured pencils.

After using acrylic paint, he starts using oil painting. It allows him to be more flexible in his works, for example, to change details.
