Dallaire, Jean-Philippe

Jean-Philippe Dallaire was born in Hull in 1916. He completed his studies at Montreal’s school of fine arts and then at Boston’s school of fine arts. In 1938, he wins a prize and this prize takes him to France where he becomes the student of Maurice Denis and André Lhote. He comes back to Quebec and teaches at the School of arts.

Threw his career Dallaire explored many styles: cubism, surrealism, and symbolism. His work is difficult to classify. It comes from a great talent, of a liberty and a sensibility that permits him to enrich the art of Quebec landscapes.
