Jones, Henry

Henry W. Jones was born in Waterloo, in Quebec, 1925. He studied arts at the University Sir George Williams and at the Montreal school of fine arts. In 1960 to 1967, he teaches arts in that same school of arts and in 1968 to 1986, he teaches at the University Sir George Williams. For 35 years he has worked with pottery, gold and silver jewels, painting and sculpture.Since 1958, he participated regularly to annual expositions at the Montreal museum of fine arts and at the Canadian group of Painters, at the royal academy of fine arts and at the concours du Quebec. Member of the Canadian group of painters in 1959, he wins the first prize of that group in 1963. Henry W. Jones is also a laureate of the Winnipeg Show award in 1962 and of the Tomas Purchase Award for a sculpture in 1973.
