René Lemay was born on December the 8 1934 in Montreal. Self-taught, he is very young and passionate for drawing, but nothing encourages him more to go on professionally to be an artist. He works as a commercial representative until 1978, until the year that he operates his own enterprise of artisan pottery. He always has been a painter since 1970, but it is not until 1983 that he decides to paint professionally.

He is first known in Quebec because of her edited works soled at boutiques. His is now found in many galleries in Quebec. During many years, René Lemay painted exclusively with watercolor Quebec’s old or abandoned habitations. Actually he expresses himself with acrylic by creating characters with lengthen and colorful forms in scenes of the most diverse.
